The Glowing Red Eyes
Red eyes surfaced above the water, glaring through the heavy fog. The engine quieted, and the boat came to a halt as it stealthily approached the beast. Bella, leaning over the boat to get a look, suddenly the creature viciously opened it’s mouth with a sense of urgency jolting out of the water and . . . bam.
Bella Zarate hazily opened her eyes waking up from her wild dream, one that had been recurring in her head for many nights. Maybe it had something to do with the fact that her father had recently booked a trip to go alligator hunting in the Everglades.
Bella, the girl who had never hunted anything in her life eagerly agreed to hop on an airboat in the middle of the night to hunt alligators. “I’m always down for an adventure, plus I’m trying to be more spontaneous,” she said.
After months of vivid dreams and an abundance of both fear and adrenaline it was finally the big day. Bella and her dad boarded the airboat around 9 p.m. (after learning how to throw the harpoon of course). Hours of cruising around the dark and gloomy swamp later, Bella somehow managed to fall asleep to the roaring sound of the engine. Who falls asleep while alligator hunting? 2 a.m. Bella is abruptly waken up only to look down and shine her light on a monstrous gator. Her dad casts the harpoon into the dark only to miss the beast and fall into the bottom of the boat. It was up to Bella to get the gator before it escaped. With no hesitation she reached for the bam stick, aimed, and hit it perfectly between it’s eyes. Her ears were ringing, her body was shaking, and her dad was smiling. Bella got the gator.
